Title: IGM and CGM in radio astronomy

Abstract:

Previous studies of galaxy formation show that the gas in the cosmic web is mostly in the “Warm-hot Intergalactic medium” and the circumgalactic medium is in the multiphase gas. In this talk I will present several recent and on-going studies of using radio astronomy tools (including CMB measurements, MeerKAT/SKA, FAST and Parkes radio telescopes) to measure the gaseous properties of these medium, and discuss future prospects.

Bio:

马寅哲教授在南京大学获得物理学学士学位，在中国科学院理论物理研究所获得硕士学位（导师：蔡荣根院士），并在剑桥大学获得了天文学博士学位（导师：George Efstathiou）。他曾在加拿大不列颠哥伦比亚大学做CITA National Fellow，并在曼彻斯特大学担任研究助理，然后转到南非夸祖鲁纳塔尔大学先后任高级讲师(2015), 副教授(2018)，和正教授(2021-)。他领导了南非和中国的基于SKA的天文合作，并担任中国-南非天文联合体共同主任。他还担任过中国科学院国家天文台兼职研究员，紫金山天文台兼职研究员，理论物理研究所彭桓武访问科学家。

他的研究在观测和理论宇宙学、射电天文学。他目前是平方公里射电望远镜阵列（SKA），欧洲宇航局Planck卫星团队，中国五百米射电望远镜FAST，美国-南非HERA望远镜，美国CMB-S4望远镜和LSST (Vera C. Rubin Observatory)的核心成员，并主持若干国际合作研究项目。他发表了100多篇论文，被引总数约为20000，h-index为43。获得过若干南非国家基金会的支持和国家自然科学基金委海外学者合作基金。
